Escalator Injured a 7-year-old Girl in Yancheng City

An accident occurs in Golden Eagle Shopping
Center in Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province, China, on the evening of the
National Day of the PRC, where a girl is clamped by an escalator by right leg,
causing fracture of her ankle and right tibia, reported Yangtse Evening Post. The injured girl, nicknamed Xinxin, is only seven years old. She is learning to play drum kit in a training agency and reaches grade 7 for the training. On the afternoon of Oct 1st, an art performance was held in the shopping center co-sponsored by the training agency and Julonghu, a shop in the center. Xinxin’s role was a drum player in the show, which ended around 6pm. Mrs. Zeng, Xinxin’s mother, accompanied her off the venue by escalator downward. But when they reach the middle, Xinxin’s right leg was clamped by the running escalator, and her mother yelled for help. Someone stopped the escalator and cut the shoes that was clamped in the gap and carefully took Xinxin’s foot off. Xinxin’s right calf was found a little deformed after taken off from the escalator. Mrs. Zeng and other workers in the center took Xinxin to 3rd Hospital of Yangcheng City for emergency treatment. X-rays shows fractures in her right malleolus medialis and tibia and swollen soft tissues. It’s reported that a similar accident occurred on the national holiday of 2015 in the center, where a 3-year-old girl was clamped by right hand. Yangtse reporter was told that police started to investigate the accident on 2rd.
